Coprophagy in the bird world!

A while ago I posted an observation of "coprophagy" (eating of faeces) observed in the Retz helmet shrike. On that occasion it was mobbing an eagle and as the eagle defecated the helmet shrike swooped in and snatched the prize mid-air!!

Yesterday I was sitting with a pride of lions and watching a Hooded vulture sneaking up on a fresh lion scat. I had read that the Hooded vulture is particularly agile and so will often be the one species to get amongst the sleeping cats and take advantage of this untapped resource!

There is no accounting for taste I guess!
