| tagged vulture seen in Hwange |
Yesterday we took a short drive to a pan called Caterpillar in Hwange national park to check on a lioness who was there. we had heard that there was a dead elephant there so thought we would find her feeding on it. We did not see her but had a great time watching a hyaena and her three pups.
As we were about to leave I spotted a tagged Vulture sitting in a tree to the right of the road.
quickly i snapped a couple of shots and have been e-mailing like a madman this morning trying to get any further information on where it came from.
we have had a tagged Cape vulture seen here before that had been rehabilitated in South Africa so i am expecting a similar story. If anyone has any information please leave it as a comment on this post.
I will update the blog as and when i hear back from the "vullie people".

I have just had the following reply about the tagged vulture....

It is indeed a Cape Vulture, released on the 12 December
2012 at the Blouberg Nature Reserve in the Limpopo Province. The bird underwent
some rehab due to being grounded due to weather conditions.
