Miombo Rock Thrush

I was tracking lions one day and went off-road, following a signal for a lioness called "Frisky". I had just driven under a tree when a colourful bird flew out of it and landed in another ahead of me. I put the binoculars to it and saw a bird that I had never seen before! I took a few photos from that distance (as you do) and then pushed my luck and drove closer...inch by inch! I needn't have bothered with all the covert ninja style approach because the bird allowed me to get underneath the branch on which it now sat!

This time i managed to get some great pictures of my first Miombo Rock Thrush and probably a new one for the Hwange Atlas too. So much for its name though because the nearest rocks of any kind are many kilometres away!
