My very observant wife (get the brownie points where i can!!) spotted a number of oxpeckers on an adult male giraffe at night as we drove home a few years ago. She pointed them out to me and we watched them in the headlights of the car as they clung to the giraffe's neck. We mentioned that to a local expert and he said that as far as he knew only one other record of such behaviour was recorded and it was on Kudu. I made it my mission to try and photograph this again if i saw it and low and behold a few weeks later i managed to get it.
Albeit a little dark....the picture shows 3 oxpeckers on a giraffe's neck well after sunset.
