I wrote a post "in praise of the migrants" a short while ago and waxed lyrical about the colour and excitement that their presence adds to the birding in our areas. Well now that the leaves are turning and the migrants have all but left for warmer climates we as birders start taking a closer look at the residents again.
I guess a similar thing happens in Paris after "Fashion Week" has left town!!
One very interesting "local" is a Kurrichane thrush Turdus libonyanus that seems to annually have boxing matches with his own reflection in our spare-room window! I managed to catch this image of him as he squared up to himself yesterday afternoon.
Just shows....the locals are worth watching too
