They're back!!

Yesterday I went out looking for lions with my son, we went past a pan where we had a recent report of the pride I needed for a collar download. Of course I had a beady eye out for birds and my attention was especially focused on a patch of water grasses at a pan called Kanondo. For the last 2 years I have seen Allen's Gallinule there and have been waiting for their return.

The grass is so dense and thick that you only ever get the quickest glimpse of them but the turquoise skin patch and the red bill are diagnostic. We had just stopped to watch a herd of Sable antelope when movement in the grass caught my eye and there one was......albeit for the briefest of moments!
